Our trustees
Postcode Community Trust was established in 2014 and is governed by an independent board of trustees. The trustees are also responsible for making all funding decisions.
David Sharrod - Chair
David’s lifelong involvement with the sector ranges from being a local volunteer to a National Chair, with 20 years as a Charity CEO. He has helped to set up, deliver and manage many grant-giving programmes. He enjoys supporting community organisations to become more effective, but his greatest pleasure has been in seeing young (and older) people develop and fulfil their potential.
Still volunteering for several organisations, his current his roles include Chairing Cumbria Wildlife Trust. He passionately believes in the power of nature to restore us, and in individuals and communities to drive change across society.
Rahul Bissoonauth
Rahul has led strategy and fundraising projects for hundreds of diverse-led organisations and charities tackling inequalities in Birmingham, across the UK and around the world. Clients have included the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation, Sporting Equals, the Lawn Tennis Association, UEFA, the Coalfields Regeneration Trust, and several other award-winning organisations. Rahul is an experienced charity sector leader, holding executive and board-level positions at the Football Foundation, Oaks Consultancy, the Big Issue Invest Impact Growth Fund and formerly at Magic Bus.
Gareth Hill
Gareth is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, and has more than 30 years experience of financial management & reporting gained through working in universities, further education colleges, charities and private health. He is retired, having previously been employed as a Finance Professional within the Scottish Civil Service.
John Robson
John Robson has 20 years’ experience in international development, philanthropy, and grant-making. He has served on the Board of the Postcode Trusts since 2022, bringing expertise in governance, funding strategy, and oversight of complex grant portfolios. Over his career, he has held senior roles at the International Initiative for Impact Evaluation (3ie), ODI Global, and the University of Edinburgh, as well as earlier experience with People’s Postcode Lottery managing the community programmes team. Across these roles, he has worked extensively with institutional and philanthropic funders to design and deliver funding programmes that strengthen impact, accountability, and evidence use.
