As you put the finishing touches to your applications, we’ve put together some tips for success for applicants to the Community Grants Programme.

Competititon for funding in this inaguaral round is guaranteed to be very high.

In light of this, our team have highlighted four of the most important aspects of an application that we look for when assessing projects:

1. Long Term Impact

One of the most important criteria we look for when assessing Community Grants applications is the quality of the legacy the project will leave behind once it is finished.

Successful projects will leave a positive and enduring legacy to their beneficiaries and local areas and once our funding ends the project should be in a position to go from strength to strength.

2. Innovativation

We don’t support requests for general running costs for existing programmes

3. Engaging The Local Community

To be one of our Dream Fund winners your project will need the capacity to capture people’s imagination, engage the public and generate press coverage.

Engage a wide reach within the local community, encourage community development

4. Read The Guidance Notes

This is one of the most common pitfalls for charities when applying for funding. Some main exclusions we have are:

  • We don’t fund events or festivals
  • We don’t fund requests for 100% salaries

Our guidance notes details the specifics of what we are looking for from potential projects as well as what we do not fund.

Applicants should read these thoroughly before applying and if they have any questions about applying should contact the helpdesk on

Good luck and remember that you have until 5pm on Friday 30th January to complete and submit your application.
